Rocky Mountain Miniatures opened it's doors in July 2003 as Mountain Miniatures in a space of 400 square feet, at 506 Fifth Street in Georgetown, CO. Quickly outgrowing the space, the owners, Chris and Jeannette Peterson, bought the Georgetown Mercantile and the accompanying building in September 2004. The miniatures merged with the gift ware and attracted a whole new group of people. Those who would not ordinarily venture into a miniatures store, now wander in, see all the fun, small things, and enjoy exploring that side of the store. The other side is still populated with tourist and gift items. However, the miniatures have grown from 400 square feet to over 900 now!

Jeannette has always been interested in miniatures, but only decided to go into it full time after raising the children and moving to this quaint Victorian mountain town. She has been involved in restoring old dollhouses, teaching classes, helping customers with special projects, working with children, and sharing people's enthusiasm about miniatures.
